We recently paid a visit to Sotech to talk to them about the benefits they find utilising BIM. The company is a leading designer and manufacturer of the Optima range engineered metal rainscreen facade cladding solutions and architectural fabrications. They are based in Peterlee in the North-East of England. It was a pleasure to meet their team and be given a tour of their site, which includes offices, a manufacturing facility, a showroom, active learning zone and a VR demonstration room.
We sat down with Mohamad, their Principal Technical Engineer, and discussed how they identified that BIM would be useful to them, how they decided to work with an external partner, and how BIM has benefited their company to date. Mo revealed that Sotech has gained a competitive edge over similar manufacturers and seen a lot of value from utilising BIM content. The company now sees it as a survival tool and recognise that they would have lost a lot of jobs if they didn’t have it available. We also then went on to touch on their plans for the future and how our partnership will develop further.
