In response to the Grenfell Tower disaster, the Government has published the Building Safety Bill 2021. The Bill sets out new regulations for those developing, designing, building and managing residential buildings, hospitals and care homes over 18 metres.
The much anticipated first draft of the Building Safety Bill was published in July 2020 and scrutinised by the Housing, Communities and Local Government Select Committee, which issued its report in November 2020. The Government responded to the report when it introduced the Bill to the House of Commons on 5th July 2021.
