Castrads, a leading manufacturer of custom-built, custom-finished radiators, recently had their products selected as part of House of Pemberley's recent renovation in South-West London, which masterfully blends Victorian grandeur with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
The design employs bold blues and greens alongside fresh neutrals, creating a stunning backdrop for traditional elements such as ornate gilded mirrors, Holophane glass light shades, and polished mahogany furniture. Founder and Creative Director Nupur Tandon explains more about the project and gives some insight to her approach.
"I'd describe my design style as soulful and layered, with a strong emphasis on art, antiques, and the profound power of beauty."
This project presented the challenge of integrating modern conveniences while preserving the building's historical nature. Updates included rewiring, plumbing, insulation, bespoke joinery, and the installation of a modern home alarm interface and upgraded internet connectivity. The result is a seamless blend of heritage and contemporary comfort, providing homeowners with a sanctuary that honours the home's Victorian legacy while meeting modern needs.
Throughout the four-storey home, Nupur specified Castrads' Mercury 3 Column 660mm radiators in Grey Bronze, complemented by Antique Brass valves and wall stays. Initially, bespoke cast iron radiators were not part of the plan. However, as the project evolved to include a more refined aesthetic, the team began exploring ornate wallpapers from Colefax and Fowler. Nupur presented Chinoiserie patterns alongside Castrads' cast iron radiators, leading to discussions about Victorian-inspired design elements and colour preferences. A visit to Castrads' Fulham Road showroom with the clients helped solidify this vision.
Nupur emphasises the importance of quality, reliability, and alignment with her design vision when selecting suppliers. She seeks suppliers who provide high-quality products, meet deadlines, and offer exceptional customer service. Value for money and access to unique or bespoke items are also crucial. Castrads met these criteria, delivering unparalleled quality and service throughout the project. Nupur notes that their commitment to excellence made the entire process smooth and highly satisfying.
She returns to suppliers who consistently meet these criteria and strives to improve and find better solutions. Ultimately, the goal is to create authentic, refined, distinct, and timeless interiors that cater to clients' lifestyles and requirements.
House of Pemberley's approach to design focuses on creating spaces that are not only beautiful but also functional and enduring. By carefully selecting suppliers and materials, they ensure that each project reflects the client's vision while honouring the historical integrity of the building. This dedication to excellence is evident in their South-West London renovation, where Victorian elegance meets modern comfort in a harmonious blend.
